So glad I got this

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did a lot of online searches for best refrigerator and came up with this Whirlpool 22cf bottom freezer. So glad I went with this one. I'd never had a bottom freezer before but I think it's actually better than top freezer. No more stooping down to see what's 'lost' in the back of the bottom shelf. Everything is at eye level and this thing k...

Sloppy track

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After installation I began using the refrigerator and noticed the freezer drawer was did not engage evenly when pulled from the left side of handle. The surface was also not flush with the door of the fridge on the left. It was recessed about 1/2 inch. When I called the service tech he said they are all like that and that I am not the only one a...

    Overall very pleased.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really liked two features especially: the flexibility in where shelves can be located, and the convenience the pullout baskets in the freezer offer.

Ok fridge. Does the job, but noisily.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this fridge to replace one that worked well for 24 years. Our choice was driven by what was available in town for installation within a week, due to the inconvenience of not having a working fridge. The fridge interior is large. There's no butter compartment. We've had the fridge for a week, and it has kept things cold 35-37° on the default setting. The fridge is TOO noisy! It's energy consumption is 25% higher than our 2001 era fridge. We don't use the ice maker, so that's a waste of space in the freezer. I hope to remove it one day. The wheels on the bottom are convenient, but the leveling legs are not! They require some adjustments to make the fridge door want to close, rather than resting open.

Ticks all the boxes we were looking for.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’ve had this fridge for a little over a month and are very pleased with the performance so far. There is ample space for food with plenty of storage compartments in the fridge door. It seems to keep things cool well, and the crisper drawers especially seem to be doing very well for our fruits and veggies. The ice maker in the freezer was a big need for us, and has been great to have easily accessible ice cubes. The only downside is the large opening radius of the fridge door in our smaller space, but that was just an oversight on my part before purchasing. Overall we are very pleased with this fridge/freezer!

    Nice fridge, but...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After our four-year-old LG refrigerator failed (which would have cost more to repair than to buy a new one), we decided to go with another manufacturer. Having owned another Whirlpool refrigerator that is over 20 years old (and still running) we decided to purchase this one, with the single upper door (recommended over the french door style by the repair man). Initially, we were quite happy with it. However, two months after purchase we opened the freezer one morning and found the contents were thawing out. The refrigerator section seemed to be OK, but not the freezer. I quickly turned the temperature selector down to its coldest setting, closed the door and hoped for the best. The contents re-froze, and I was able to set the temp a little higher (the numbering system for the coldness setting is counter-intuitive, IMHO, with higher numbers indicating colder settings and vice-versa). Anyway, we haven't had a problem since though we are very wary about it. That is the reason for the four-star rating. After living through the LG refrigerator disaster, we're kind of gun shy when there appeared to be another failure with our new fridge. We're hoping not to open that door to find everything melting again. Seems like manufacturers should have some kind of alarm that will warn of impending unintended defrosting.

    No pain…just gains!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just love the freezer on the bottom. What a savior on Senior knees & backs! I was worried that I wouldn’t have the same storage room, but it seems I do with the added bonus of being able to see everything. It is working smoothly and quietly.

    Three months in ...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] SO, I have had this fridge for exactly 3 months and it continues to be problematic. The first one had to be returned because the guys could not get the door to stay open. The refrigerator was useable, but rather inconvenient to constantly have to hold the door open. They decided it was a factory defect and sent it back and brought in a second one (I live in a small town so that was a one month process). The second one is not making ice. The first one DID make ice - so I know it's not my water line or anything like that. I called and went through this whole thing where the retailer told me to call the manufacturer and Whirlpool told me to call the retailer. Finally someone is going to come out and look at the ice maker in another week. So it's been three months, two units, and I still don't have a completely functional refrigerator. Quite disappointing. On the positive side - things are cold. Kind of a low bar! However, I consider the veg/fruit bins to be too shallow. Half of my fruit and veg end up on the shelves because there is not enough room for them.

    Average despite CR rating

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I expected more given CR's high rating. My two complaints are the compressor noise level and the interior pressure build up causing the door to be difficult to open at times.

    Some Bug Concerns

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Like the way bottom freezer is organized and the refrigerator shelves adjust well. I have two concerns about this model. The first is the refrigerator drawers seem pretty flimsy and I am thinking they will crack over time. The second is that the ice maker stopped working after only ten days. The repair technician came 8 days ago and said a replacement would need to be ordered. I haven’t heard anything back.
